How do you improve on the European Car of the Year 2014: the Peugeot 308? You add some more efficient engines, introduce the new i-Cockpit and add a little French style. Peugeot 308 has already found a home in many local residents’ driveways and if you were looking to invest in a reliable, stylish and comfortable family hatchback (or estate), then the Peugeot 308 range continues to be your best choice.
New design elements across the range
Whatever trim level you choose, the Peugeot 308 looks modern and beautiful. A sleek new bonnet meets a vertical grille and new elliptical headlights come with Daytime Running Lights (powered by efficient LED technology). A new front bumper houses a large lower grille opening for more efficient engine cooling and the rear lights bring the same distinctive claw-like design, seen in the award-winning Peugeot 3008 SUV.
And there was light
Choose an Allure, GT Line or GT model and you’ll receive a large glass roof as standard, bringing in an exceptional amount of light to the cabin. If you’re looking for a comfortable, well-lit, happy driving experience, the New Peugeot 308 always delivers.
Full autonomous driving is not far away.
Whilst we’re not quite at full vehicular autonomy, Peugeot continue to push the boundaries. New Peugeot 308 is fitted with the latest-generation autonomous systems including:
- Active Safety Brake (automatic braking when an obstacle is identified)
- Active Lane Departure Warning (no more wandering out of lanes on the motorway)
- Adaptive Cruise Control with stop function (Cruise on the main roads and your car comes to a stop when in a queue and moves along when the queue subsides. This feature is available on the Automatic transmission units and limited to 19mph on the manuals).
New 308 range brings new powertrains
Peugeot 308 was always ahead of its time with power and economy and this was recognised by being fitted with an award-winning PureTech engine and receiving the envied European Car of the Year award in 2014.
The 2017 Peugeot 308 range brings a choice of:
- An upgraded PureTech 130 Stop & Start engine brings even better real-life fuel consumption and a new six-speed manual gearbox allows you to maximise economy and power at the wheel.
- A highly efficient diesel units (such as the 1.5 BlueHDi 130 Stop & Start) in all models which features at-source and at-exhaust emission control. Peugeot’s aim is to make the car with the biggest features and most impressive power, with the lowest carbon footprint in this affordable segment.
- At the top end, GT 308 models can be fitted with a smooth, new 8-speed automatic transmission (EAT8) and with their collaboration with Aisin, they have introduced a brand new level of comfortable driving, often unseen in daily-drivers.
Peugeot were one of the first automotive manufacturers to ensure their engines met the Euro 6 standard (long before it was required) and from September 2018, the Euro 6.c standard introduces a new legislation that Real Driving Emissions must not exceed 2.1x the certification figures. With their new engines and transmissions on offer, the New Peugeot 308 range is ready for the change.
New i-Cockpit with up-to-date technology
It’s been a long-time-coming but New Peugeot 308 and 308 SW introduce a brand-new i-Cockpit. Being pioneers in the field of a clutter-free dashboard allowed Peugeot to focus on what works and what doesn’t. Peugeot’s new i-Cockpit takes everything that works and makes it better. If you’ve ever sat in the seat of the New Peugeot 3008 SUV, you’ll know what to expect:
- A responsive capacitive touchscreen (akin to the highest end tablet on offer)
- Easy function control through an intuitive menu
- A small, sporty steering wheel for heads-up driving
- Introduction of Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirrorlink, ensuring your phone can connect easily and display your most important apps on-screen.
- 3D SatNav system with TomTom Traffic monitoring service – allowing you to optimise your journey by allowing for current traffic conditions.
New 308 and 308 SW even parks itself
Peugeot has introduced Visiopark 1 to the 308 range. This consists of a 180-degree rear camera with park-assist. Park assist will measure a parking space to ensure you can fit, and automatically steers the vehicle in-and-out. There’s now no need to fear parallel parking.
